who is the customer?

Ipos Technology is a Dutch company that sells rein sensors which provide equestrian riders with data and information about the training schedule, soundness, rhythm, straightness, contact and lightness of the horse. Ipos not only aims to serve the interests of riders to help them become great, but she also monitors the health of the horse.

the goal

After the owners of Ipos tried several times to get an embedded product off the ground, they came to us at VEDS Group.

The goal was to introduce technique in equestrian sport. The approach was to prevent injuries with horses, since the management has a background as a veterinarian, with a specialization in horses. Through years of experience it was known that horses often train longer with an injury, because the rider unconsciously drove wrong and has not (yet) discovered the injury.

The idea was to develop a product that is placed between the rein and the bit: the Rein Sensor. This product measures the pull strength of the rider: Is the distribution even and does the horse move evenly. This data is displayed in real-time in an app, so that the trainer can intervene immediately and advise the equestrian rider.

the challenges

There were several challenges for this project:
- total available budget for the implementation of the project;
- the sensitivity of the end product; it had to be measured in grams/tensile force;
- the water tightness of the end product;
- the strength of the end product in connection with the forces exerted on it.
- because Ipos Technology had already determined the cost price for the end product, VEDS had to figure out how to produce the products within this amount including margin.

the result

VEDS has implemented the wishes of the customer and delivered an end result to the satisfaction of the customer. Because VEDS is an all-in-house company, we developed the hardware, software and mechanical design, produce the PCBs and assemble and test the end product. An external agency developed the app. Because the collaboration is experienced as very pleasant by both parties, production, assembly and testing will continue to take place at our office on the High Tech Campus.
