New investments in technology

02-09-2019

Last week, the newspaper Telegraaf published an article in which they reported that Rutte III will 'surprise' the Netherlands on Budget Day with a billion-dollar injection for the growth of our economy, with which our prosperity can also be guaranteed in the longer term. This includes additional investments in (...) in scientific research and new technologies, such as artificial intelligence.

In recent years, the Netherlands has boasted rising places in global economic rankings, where we were often in the top ten or even in the top five, such as in international competitiveness and innovations. Recent numbers show us falling on several of those lists. The core of this decline is due to the fact that the Dutch government has invested too little in digitization and the latest technologies.

The high places in the world rankings that we are now losing were mainly due to old policies that have now been worked out. In addition, the Netherlands is being overtaken by competing countries, such as China, the US, Germany and France. These respond more quickly to the new (online) world, often referred to as economy 4.0, which is characterized by digitization and new technologies. Climate change and climate policy are now also a revolutionary and central factor in 4.0. become.

In many countries with which the Netherlands competes, the most important agenda item is the worldwide 'war' for knowledge, new technologies and talents. Countries and companies that manage to lead the way with innovative technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), robots, 3D printing, nano and biotech, are the winners of the 4.0 economy. AI, including 'machine learning', is regarded as the key technology. (Source: De Telegraaf)

One of the ways in which this 'injection of money' from the cabinet or the EU is made available is through grants. Every year, VEDS Group carries out several of these types of projects in collaboration with partners and customers. Are you planning to start such a (new) project this or next year, don't hesitate to get us involved!
